CAHNRS IT is kicking off the migration process to move from Cisco-based phones to Zoom phones. The Zoom Phone is a modern, cloud-based communications solution that combines phone and Zoom meeting capabilities into a single platform. After migration, all phone functionalities will move to the Zoom Workplace application.
What Is Changing?
Following the migration, you will use Zoom Phone to make and receive calls and manage voicemail.
Zoom Phone allows you to:
· Make and receive calls from your computer, smartphone, or tablet
· Manage calls from the same Zoom application you already use for meetings
· Access and manage new voicemails through Zoom
· Transfer, forward, and conference calls
Many employees will use Zoom Phone as a softphone, meaning calls can be made and received without a traditional desk phone.
What Is Staying the Same?
Many aspects of your phone experience will remain unchanged.
· Your current 10-digit phone number will remain the same
· Your current 5-digit extension will remain the same
· Internal extension dialing will continue to work
· Existing headsets, headphones, microphones, and audio devices used for Zoom meetings will continue to work with Zoom Phone
· Phone functions such as voicemail, call transfer, forwarding, and conferencing will still be available
WSU Directory
As users across WSU are migrated, Zoom Contacts will become a university-wide directory experience that allows you to search for colleagues by name, extension, or phone number.
For all individuals, no action is required. If you already use Zoom for meetings, your Zoom Workplace application will automatically receive phone functionality as part of the migration.
