In response to recent events, we are working with our users to accommodate remote desktop solutions to the best of our abilities. You can use these directions to prepare and set up your workstation for remote access.

First, you will need to set up the workstation you intend to remote into for remote access. To do this, please visit the link below and follow these instructions:

Enable RDP

When that’s complete, you can connect to that system via our VPN network. To set up the VPN software, please use the directions provided at the site below:

GlobalProtect SSLVPN:  Windows | Mac – Linux

With the remote system configured and an active connection to our VPN network, you can connect to the remote system by opening Remote Desktop Connection, enter the Hostname referenced in the directions mentioned above, and signing into your workstation with your WSU credentials.

To find the Hostname, refer to the directions below:

1. Open Start Menu
2a. If Windows 10, type “This PC”, right-click the icon, and select “Properties”.
2b. If Windows 7, right-click “Computer” and select “Properties.”
3. Make a note of the “Full Computer Name” (your Hostname)

If you are unable to use the provided directions to set up a remote connection to your remote workstation, you might need to use a 3rd party remote desktop applications. If you would like to explore these options, please enter a ticket at support.it.cahnrs.wsu.edu.
